Dream Bohemians,
Thank you to those of you who have been on this experimental and experiential journey with us. We are halfway there. On Friday, after the five chapters of The Myth of Âme have been released, our first song, Âme, will be unlocked.
Yesterday, Âme encountered another human for the first time. Magnetized to each other, they danced until the moon kissed the forest goodnight. But who is this beautiful stranger? And will the feeling fade at first light, or will it survive the test of time?

The Myth of Âme
Chapter III
The two lived like that for many moon cycles. Âme learned the other human’s name was Lûm and that life with Lûm was everything the hummingbird spoke of and more. Âme and Lûm taught each other words and shared their favourite foods. Âme taught Lûm how to be a better climber and Lûm taught Âme how to braid tall grass and tree roots. Every night, without fail, the two danced under the moonlight.
After many cycles, as they were beginning to speak the same language, Lûm told Âme she needed to return to her family. Âme, never having had a human family, did not understand. She didn’t know why Lûm wanted to leave the perfect life the two had created together.
Âme stormed off into the forest, feeling angry and confused. She screamed at her mother, telling her this love was not right.
"This is not the love the hummingbird spoke of!" She demanded to be given a proper love.
Mother Jungle, seeing her daughter’s naiveté and feeling compassionate towards her heartbreak, guided Âme to a shrub. She told Âme to take the leaves, crush them with a rock, then place them in water. At night, she instructed Âme to drink the water. Âme, desperate for answers, did as her mother said. She drank the water, then fell into a curious and colourful dream...
Though the environment in the Myth of Âme is inspired by my country of origin, Brazil, the characters are fictional and not meant to represent any past or existing peoples. I give thanks to the diverse cultural landscape that inspired my writing and thinking from a young age through tales of folklore, both sung and written. I want to especially acknowledge the Tupi-Guarani peoples of Brazil, for providing rich and sacred meaning to particular natural elements of our beloved Amazônia: Vitória Régia (water lilies) and the moon. In the Tupi-Guarani legend of the Vitória Régia, the water lily is contextualized as a previously human woman and lover of the goddess of the moon, Jaci. The Myth of Âme does not attempt to change the meaning or sacredness of these elements.
